Witcher Edition: Friday Fun Trifecta #11

If you remember a while back, we did a segment here on SDMcKinley.com called Friday Fun Links. Fun links have evolved into Friday Fun Trifecta, where I will feature one thing of each – music, book and visual arts. Welcome to Friday Fun Trifecta #11, in appreciation for artwork.

It’s Friday again. How am I doing? I’m wore out. People wear me out. Then, I wear myself out. It’s a dangerous combination, especially when you don’t realize it’s Friday until way after you wake up; it’s sort of a nice surprise, however when you learn what day of the week it is. Make no mistake: it’s no where near as superior as Saturday. Let’s escape into a bit of Tolkien and visual arts and music inspired by his works!

Visual:

Out Of The Frying-Pan Into The Fire by yoshiyaki

Music:

I See Fire by Ed Sheeran, from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug – Lyrics @ Genius.com

Book:

The Hobbit, or There and Back Again by J.R.R. Tolkien

“May the wind under your wings bear you where the sun sails and the moon walks.”

― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit, or There and Back Again

“There is more in you of good than you know, child of the kindly West. Some courage and some wisdom, blended in measure. If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.”

― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit, or There and Back Again

[ Quote Source: GoodReads.com ]

Does anyone have any background about the alternative title There and Back Again?

Did we find the source of the moonwalks, here in Tolkien’s writings? Michael Jackson knows . . . Is it because Michael Jackson almost tried to sue over it when he found out, then the lawyers reminded him about what year the book was written!?

I swear this guy is a re-incarnated Michael Jackson, except this is the body he was suppose to be in to begin with:

So it seems to be a router issue? I just tried to go to your website using a clean install of firefox on Mrs B’s tabA tablet and got the “wrong website” message. Any thoughts on how to proceed? No rush either.

I’m assuming your ISP is caching the DNS longer than is indicated on the TTL. No mind, just techno babble. 😂

I would try this:

Open Control Panel.
Click on Network and Internet.
Click on Network and Sharing Center.
Click the Change adapter settings option in the left pane.

Network and Sharing Center

Right-click the network interface that connects Windows 10 to the internet, and select the Properties option.

Network adapter properties option

Quick tip: You’ll know which adapter is connected to the network because it won’t have a “Disabled” or “Network cable unplugged” label.

Select and check the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) option.
Click the Properties button.

Internet Protocol Version 4 option

Select the Use the following DNS server addresses option.

Quick note: When you select the option to specify the DNS settings manually, the device will continue to receive the TCP/IP address from the DHCP server (router).

Type your “preferred” and “alternate” DNS addresses.

If you want to use Cloudflare, Google Public DNS, or Cisco OpenDNS, you can use these settings:

Cloudflare: 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
Google Public DNS: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220

THEN just try it incognito window or in private window depending on your specific browser.

and I changed things back to “auto” and voila, I can’t get back to your site. I think I’ll have to reset my router on sunday or something. This is ridiculous (on my part, you’ve been nothing but helpful and full of workable suggestions.)

Oh yeah, one more thing. I would not reset the router, the problem is your ISPs DNS servers not obeying / rewriting DNS time to live values, my best guess.

Well, you could, but I’d just leave it. These services are some of the most superior in the world, depending on who you ask as far as accurate and safe DNS. Heck, even open DNS has one that blocks unfavorable websites. 😉

Well, that is one issue out of the way 😀
Now I just need to figure out why you are the only person I am not getting notifications from for comments. That’s another day though. Have a great weekend.
