LJ and Rom Wins Best Book of the Year Award

It’s hard to believe that we’ve got to this point but we have. For all the words you could use to describe the dumpster fire that is and was 2020 I am going to use the word grateful. Grateful for the authors who have provided me with not only an escape through their wonderful works […]

The Best Books I have read this year – 2020

I’m really elated over this award. Be sure to give Lee’s Hall of Information a follow, there. He’s got all kinds of great stuff going on. As I mentioned before, Hall is a staple in the indie publishing industry and a great author to bat. Let’s give those pub house grumpy, old men something to spill their coffee over! 😆

Gotcha! Yeah, I have a hunch that’s one of the ways they try to pull you into the mega-cloud. I still really haven’t found anyone that runs self hosted I can ask about it. And for the record, I’m not totally against going to the mega-cloud. Unfortunately, I’ve already paid for a year of the web hosting service. I really want this thing to work properly. 🧐

And I got the “like” on that one. It’s just so random. As a self-hosted, do you have to pay to use the jetpack plugin? or is that something you can install on your own? Because that is what the wordpress community uses to do all the notifications, etc. I’ve seen people self-hosted using it (MurderbyDeath and IrresponsibleReader are two that spring to mind) and it was a big chore to get things configured right on their ends.

No. I don’t pay for it ( it’s way too expensive ), but yeah I got it installed and all hooked up. I’ve tried to search for that issue but for some reason Google finds nothing on it. I possibly could have a setting off?

Also, I put a PSA just above the comments form, to check the email alerts box. I think that’s the best I can do, for the moment, until I talk to someone that can help fix the settings and / or code to make it work. 🙆‍♂️

Nope, not hidden and in BIG 2020 letters. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not. Speaking of that, have you seen the 2021 default WP theme? Pastels, native fonts all the things that you love in a WP theme . . . 😆

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to salvage that one, if I tried. 😅

Is that the new dotorg default? I don’t think dotcom has a “default”. I like my plain little theme and am hoping it is years before it gets retired.

Yeah it’s a nice one! I was just having fun scrolling to the bottom and watching the gradient change.😉

Yeah, idk you know one minute you go to install a new blog, with the new update and if I didn’t know any better, it would make me squeal right back onto a comfy couch watching an old episode of Gray’s Anatomy. 😂

I’m not sure about dotcom because I never had it, but if they keep this shenanigans up, I’m going to seriously consider it when my time is up in this web hosting jail. Just to make it work right. It’s all kind of silly in my opinion, after all I got a good hunch ( and that’s all it is ) that whether your dotcom or dotorg you are sitting right next to each other in the same, massive monolith that is the AWS.

No real worries here, though. I can’t imagine the cost in housing a JetPack homebase for the whole world. Unfortunately, I’ve hit my threshold for the amount I’m willing to pay. But pay no mind, we are half way through the contract and things are moving along quite nicely. 👏

Wowsers. I think WordPress needs an award for flunking how to scale their infrastructure in an elastic environment. I haven’t changed any settings at all since the last reset, aside from the comments PSA. I appreciate you letting me know and for swinging by to check it all out Ms. G. 😉
