Massive One Book Haul: Frank Miller’s Big Damn Sin City

Frank Miller’s Big Damn Sin City: Sitting under my Christmas haul, for scale.

How do you have a massive one book haul? With Frank Miller’s Big Damn Sin City, that’s how. I didn’t realize how big this book was until I had it in perspective. It’s ridiculous! A weapon, even, at that. With 1300 some odd pages and weighing in at around 12 pounds. This thing is mad heavy. I won’t be digging into this one quite yet, but it will be posted about at some point.

I ordered this along with the Bluray movie, extended cut ( extended cut is mandatory for this movie ) because I love the movie so much, I figured I would delve into where the inspiration for the film came from.

This is not for kids! First thing I noticed is that there’s quite of bit of illustrated-partial nudity in this thing, which is NOT why I’m reading it. I had no idea? Moving along, when I get around to this thing, you’ll get to see a couple of bits of the lovely black and white art style along with what I think about the story and art.

Guys and gals, until next time – may you find all the happiness that your life can fit in it’s happy spot – S.D. McKinley.

Rent Treznor and Holiday Book Haul ’20

RENT TREZNOR FOR A MERE $19.99, but WAIT, THAT’S NOT ALL . . . FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY, YOU GET A *FREE* HORSE ( IN CASE YOU WANT TO GET AWAY FAST ) – YOU CAN PLOT ROCKS ALL DAY, EVERY DAY – NO CATCHES. TOTAL: $19.99 ( DISCLAIMER: THIS THING IS HEAVY ) *NOTE: THIS IS NOT A TAINTED IMAGE.*

Happy Holidays guys and gals and as we inch toward a brand new 2021, I’m elated to share my holiday book haul, which was a very generous offering of physical books and eBooks alike. I’ll be busy for a while with these, gratefully and starting on Asher’s Gridlinked, now. I’ll have ended up with 2 copies of Gridlinked, so I may organize a give away with a couple different books included, soon ( I need to wait for the second one to arrive, first ). Sadly, I don’t always remember where I get these recommendations from, so if you have seen me in your circle and have talked about one of these books, please speak up. Also, beware that this is not a list of books that will get reviewed or not reviewed; it’s a total toss up. But, wait! 😂 That’s not all! There’s four more eBooks at the end, that are not showed in the picture.

A heart-felt thank you to Nana, Grandpa, Uncle Justin, Misty and ol’ St. Nick! 🙂

MiniBook Haul 12.5.2020

These two books were recommended by the thrift store. I have no idea when I will get around to reading them. My main reason for posting the books is simply to see if someone has something to say regarding the content. I know nothing about them and have neither seen the books before or heard of the authors. Just a little randomosity while waiting for food. 😃

Guys, until next time – may you find all the happiness that your life can fit in it’s happy spot – S.D. McKinley.

Dec. 2020 Book Haul

Welcome to Book Haul post for December 2020, here at SDMcKinley.com. The intention here is to spread good news about . . . you guessed it – books, art, love, peace and tranquility! Many other things besides reading take a place at my table, which means I’m a slow reader and that every book on this list doesn’t always get a review straight away. Don’t ask me what determines that and Don’t even ask me about my eBook Haul 🤣, as these are all physical books.

Nov. 2020 Book Haul

October is almost over and the horror reading will be winding itself down, here shortly. It was a great month for reading and writing, but it will be a nice change of pace because now I have several cobwebs growing in my brain. I didn’t quite read everything I meant to with Corpsepaint by David Peak and Wytches Vol. 1 by Scott Snyder sadly taking a bench seat on the Halloween 2020 reading list.

Remember, kids. The horror reads you. You don’t read the horror.

But, pay no mind, because November is practically here and we will have a wide variety of things to read. These books listed here are all paperback book haul here in November. Don’t even ask me about my eBook Haul. 🤣

Halloween 2020 Reading List

“Halloween Pumpkin Burning lamp helloween candle candela” by euart is licensed under CC BY 2.0

Halloween is just around the corner and it’s one of my favorite holidays. In recent years, I haven’t indulged much in the holiday spirit, treating each day just like the last, but I’m switching that up a bit this year and going to celebrate by strictly indulging into horror reading during October.

This list will consist of major works and indie ( a.k.a. lesser known ) titles:

Clive Barker’s Books of Blood: Volume One

I snagged this one at 2nd & Charles last night. It’s not suppose to be released until tomorrow, according to Amazon, ( the attribution to the film edition ) but I still snagged it somehow. I almost got Lovecraft Country, but decided on this instead. Looking forward to checking out the Hulu film after the book.

Pub House Book Haul for Sept ’20

John Dies at the End by David Wong – I recently had a review on my work, someone comparing LJ and Rom book #1 with David Wong and before this I had never heard of him or the fact that this book has been adapted into a movie, or the movie itself. It will be interesting to compare.
