RWP: The Historic Wyndham Prison Tree in Australia

Today comes another random Wikipedia article ( RWP ) ( yes, I am that geek that reads the encyclopedia for fun ) about a prison tree. That’s right. You read it correctly. The prison tree is a hollow Australian baobab tree used to keep prisoners inside of it during the 1890’s located south of Wyndham, Western Australia. Whatever works, right? I’m certain it isn’t quite like as comfy as a Wyndham by Wingate.

My mind is blown again.

It was also known as the “Hillgrove Police Station” as marked on the tree along with about three hundred other travelers that marked their name on it ( see image below ). There is another tree ( 1500 years old!! ) near Derby, Western Australia possibly used for the same thing.
