What’s the Point?

Okay, well now that I have your attention, I have a couple of poll questions here relating to an idea I have been toying around with the past day or so concerning posting a Web serial for LJ and Rom Book #2, well because as a follower and reader of this blog your opinion matters to me. What is a web serial? A serialized novel, released in sequential installments on the internet.

Are you at all interested in reading a web serial?

This is what 500 words looks like. Don’t try to read it, it’s gibberish.

What is your reading time limit for a web serial?

If a web serial was a sequal to an existing novella ( LJ and Rom book #1 ), would you read it?

Does it matter to you whether the story is readable directly in Wordpress Reader?

This is a big decision for me. So, along with your answers and me sleeping on it a couple of times, I expect to make a decision by the end of this week. I’m honestly not sure if I will do it or not, but so far it’s looking favorable. Any other thoughts or questions, poll question suggestions or other things I should be taking into consideration? Do let me know.

Other Blog Things:

Yesterday I made some changes to the layout of this site. I’m using a modified version of the Twenty Twenty, default WordPress theme and it’s absolutely horrendous out-of-the-box. But, I saw potential and made some minimal adjustments when this site launched, just to get it off the ground. Even so, there was still way too much white space ( or dark grey space ) and the comments were jacked up on mobile, etc. So I widened the comments out, did some button color changes along with making adjustments to white space in other areas of the site. So, although you may not care much about layout as long as it works, but I wanted it to be pleasing on the eye for you, so hopefully I inched closer to that.

I am not a fan of the serial. I’ll wait years if necessary to get eveything into one container. Now, my wife on the other hand, she follows like a bajillion serials on that website, royalroad (I think?) where huge ass stories are done a chapter at a time. It works great for her.

So as unhelpful as that is, I guess you’re going to have to find out what your audience wants. And that might mean experimenting and not just with a poll.

Best of luck 😀

oh. the theme.

I haunt the wordpress forums and I’ve seen more people complaining about the 2020 theme than any other. I don’t know if it is more popular (and hence has more eyes to see the issues) or if it really just has issues.

I appreciate the feedback and the voucher for luck. 😀

Yeah the twenty twenty theme is not a bad theme in a functional sense, it gets the job done. It was geared for viewing on mobile, which it accomplishes but the aesthetics is what’s so bad.

Good luck on this venture mate. Like always, my feedback on most things might always be later than eny one else as I have limited time for WP and general reading these days. I have cast my vote on the poll though, hope it will help. Good luck

Thanks! 🙃

Time constraints is something I definitely understand. Ha ha, can’t you imagine Mr. Bookstooge haunting a web forum? 🤯 I’m glad you stopped by and I’m looking forward to some of your warhammer 40k content because I really had no idea about the book end of it, before.

Lashaan – Yep, as Mr. Bookstooge pointed out sometimes our best audience is not our friend, but hopefully the content is well enough we don’t have to split hairs over it!! Ha ha. It’s always good to see a man of your stature come over here and put a few words in and give what looks like a hefty weighing vote so far!! If I keep writing you guys won’t be able to stand to hear me articulate in a normal sentence anyways. 🤣

So, at some point I will make a formal announcement regarding this ( closer to start which will expectedly be in the first quarter of next year ), but for the ones who commented and / or voted with input ( thank you, again ). I am going forward with all intentions on doing LJ and Rom book #2 in a web serial format. However, what I DON’T want to do is get stalled in an important part of the story at any time and release these 1000 word sections in a strict scheduled release. Although it may be acceptable to take a small hiatus at switching of the parts of the book ( so far LJ and Rom book #2 will be in two parts ), with everything else being said I don’t want that to happen at any time in the middle of a part. 😎
